KAMPALA- There is an untold excitement among residents of Busabala in Makindye Division following the commencement of the Najjanankumbi-Busabala Road works.
MediaScape understands that physical works started Monday with the Contractor now undertaking clearing and grubbing works in all sections where the Project Affected Persons [PAPs] have voluntarily consented to give land for the works.
But with the works in the morning of its stages, there is already excitement, owing to the fact that the issue of dust will be put to rest once this road is complete.
“In fact once this road of ours is done, we residents should tax visitors who will be using this road because we have suffered with dust,” Bob Atwine, a journalist and resident of Busabala quoted a photo of the works, wrote and shared on his Facebook wall.
Details available show that the Government of Uganda represented by the Uganda National Roads Authority [UNRA] allocated funds from its National Roads Development and Maintenance Programme (NRDMP) to be used for Design and Build contract for the upgrading of Najjanankumbi—Busabala road, Munyonyo Spur Improvements and Service Roads.
The project comprises the detailed engineering design and construction of;
Najjanankumbi – Busabala road [11km] to be upgraded to paved standard, rehabilitation of Namasole road link [1.0km] and Signalisation of the Namasole and Salama road junctions, 04 Vehicular Overpasses and 02 pedestrian bridges, Signalized Single Point Urban Interchange at Kigo, 17km of Service Gravel Roads, On and Off Ramps at Lweza Over Bridge, On and Off Ramps at Busabala Over Bridge, access interchange at Akright along the Kampala – Entebbe Expressway and A U-turn Interchange along the Kampala Entebbe Expressway.
