On Monday October 25, 202, the 32nd Cabinet meeting held at the State House, Entebbe approved the signing and ratification of the Uganda-DRC inter-governmental agreement for the joint construction of road infrastructure.
ICT and National Guidance Minister, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, confirms this in a statement.
However, what this means is that Uganda will contribute to constructing the road from Kasindi to Beni measuring about 80 kilometres, Beni to Butembo measuring 54 kilometres and the Bunagana border to Ruchuru-Goma road which measures 89 kilometres.
Facts available show that Uganda will contribute 20 per cent of the total cost of the project estimated at USD 334.5 million, as a measure to boost trade between the two countries.
According to Dr. Baryomunsi, the project comes with strengthened bilateral relations between Uganda and the DRC, increased volume of trade between Uganda and DRC, improved people to people movement and security and accelerated regional integration and stability.
