KAMPALA: On November 5, 2021, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) announced the appointment of Olive Birungi Lumonya as the Deputy Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
She will be deputizing Mr Fred Bamwesigy who was appointed Director General last month.
According to a UCAA statement, Lumonya is an accomplished leader in Corporate and NGO sectors in Uganda.
“Her leadership experience, management, and Board engagement spans over 20 years, during which she has supported and guided on strategy and management for effectiveness. She is experienced in developing and implementing strategic and business plans, customer service management, stakeholder engagement and communication, people and performance management,” UCAA says.
Lumonya has vast experience in corporate governance, and has served on several Boards in the private, government and the NGO sectors. Some of the Boards include; the UCCA Board for 6 years, Chairperson FINCA, DFCU Women in business, PACE, UWESO, UHMG, UCRNN and serving on the global SOS Management committee representing the Africa region.
She also brings on board experience in budgeting and financial management, human resources and supporting organizations to become competitive, profitable while at the same time achieving the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
She previously worked with Nile Breweries Limited as Brand Marketing Manager, National Social Security Fund as Head of Marketing and Communications and with SOS Children’s Villages Uganda as Country Director. She has established sound relationships within the private, NGO and government sectors.
Lumonya holds a Master in Business Administration Degree from ESAMI, a degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University, is a Chartered Marketer (UK), a Certified Balanced Scorecard Champion (USA) and an Africa Board Fellow (ABF).
