KAMPALA- A new brand of nice aromatic bread has hit the shelves in Kampala, promising heaven on earth.
‘Bestloaf’ prides itself in different offerings such as sweet white, sweet brown, salty brown, buns and confectioneries.
Founder and Software Engineer, Ivan Kahangire, says the motivation behind Bestloaf is to feel the gap for the continued shortfall in supply of processed carbohydrates to the an ever increasing semi urban and urban population brought about by the high birth rate, increase in rural-urban immigrants and ever refining consumer tastes and preferences.
But besides these, Kahangire says old brands have often become complacent and often don’t listen to the customers changing tastes and preferences.
The Technology
The recipe here remains a secret, according to Kahangire, but the mixture is achieved to the point through use of spreadsheets that compute what volumes of each component should be added to achieve the desired quantities and quality respectively.
This too, he says, is used in the formula to calculate the depreciation of inventory and stock in the stores and match it with expected revenue, both gross and net.
Further, technology is used in a mobile App which is used to track population densities, concentrate on certain classifications of the market and creation of routes to market.
Kahangire says this data is used to plot consumption patterns based on historic supply data and provide predictive analytics in order to manage the company’s inventory and supply replenishments respectively.
“The analytics then gives dashboards that tell a compelling story about our products’ relationship with our customers and how we can best improve,” Kahangire says.
Soon, Bestloaf is expected to introduce the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
This, Kahangire says will help the company predict stock outs for stockists and directly communicate with the company through an App on when to accurately restock.
Outside these, Bestloaf has introduced and will be rolling out a QR Code on our product cover.
Kahangire says the QR Code will help the company get instant customer feedback about a particular product.
Here, a customer will simply point their mobile device camera onto the QR code, scan and fill in a two-sentence questionnaire.
Summarily, Kahangire says, Technology has simplified the way Bestloaf is producing, selling, marketing, distributing and satisfying the customer with our tasty and delicious products, innovatively.
