KAMPALA- The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine’s role in the Covid-19 response has been recognized.
This, following her award; ‘Recovery and Resilience Award of Exceptional Perseverance,’ delivered on Friday at Salaama, Munyonyo in Makindye Division.
The award came at an event to mark International Youth Day.
The award highlights Dr. Atwine’s passion, resilience, selfless and relentless effort in the fight against Covid-19.
Dr. Atwine accepted the award and went on to speak on the project she was commissioning:
“I am touched that such young people are coming up with such projects. I treasure youth. We should encourage young people and support their initiatives because what we have all grown to achieve in life is because some people mentored us and supported our dreams.”
The project, Princess Diana Community Health Centre, is Uganda’s Ambassador for Women and Girls aimed at supporting the vulnerable girls and women affected by Covid-19.
The project is located along the Salaama Road.
Dr. Atwine also urged the young people to embrace mindset change and have a positive attitude towards work and other aspects of life but also believe in themselves
