Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC), Uganda’s automotive player has been listed for Africa Business Leadership Award 2021 under the category Africa Company of the Year.
The award recognizes companies who have made a mark in their industry sectors through uncommon customer service, innovative products offering, community impact or technological offering, and concrete societal impact.
The nomination pits KMC against Trade Kings (Zambia), Vodafone (Ghana) and Maroc Telecoms (Morocco).
Eng. Dr. Mugisha
In the same award, Uganda’s National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Managing Director, Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha, has been nominated under the category, Africa Regulator of the Year. The award recognizes a government regulatory agency for its effective regulatory framework or policy initiatives and programs, implemented across national or regional levels. The award also recognizes a government entity that encourages action beyond compliance with applicable laws, enhances stakeholder’s engagement and contributes to the growth of the national or regional/status brand through the practical impact on the people.
Eng. Dr. Mugisha faces off with Simbi Wabote (CEO, Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board), Brima Baluwa Koroma (Executive Chairman, Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Sierra Leone), Ishmael Stan Chioko (Ag. CEO, Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority and Poppy Khoza, CEO, South Africa Civil Aviation Authority. NWSC is Uganda’s water and sewerage company owned by the Government of Uganda.
10 other categories recognize uniquely outstanding African leaders in various spheres of business and policy.
