Property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia, following the relaxed Covid-19 lockdown Monday reopened Kampala Shopping Malls under Crane Management Services (CMS) Limited.
Last Friday, President Yoweri Museveni relaxed measures earlier put in place to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Following his communication, businesses reopened Monday.
Kampala Shopping Malls reopened to tenants.
However, it is not a normal situation at Kampala Boulevard, Eagle Plaza, Hardware Plaza, Market Plaza and Royal Plaza, among others. The Cube is another shopping mall reopened for business under strict SOPs.
There is strict adherence to Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as guided by the Ministry of Health.
For starters, the conditions are that: Wear Your Face Mask, Sanitize, Observe Social Distance and Wash Hands
On top of these, there is a 24-hr Surveillance to ensure 100% compliance to SOPs.
Earlier, the President guided that for malls and arcades to reopen, there must be compliance to all SOPs, presence of compliance officers as a MUST, corridors and access ways have to be clear, adequate lighting and ventilation, no air conditioning, dedicated entry and exit, install CCTV cameras where they are absent, proper hygiene and sanitation facilities and registration of shop owners and attendants as a MUST.
Some of these measures, the President said, will be reviewed in a fortnight.
