The Ministry of Health has ordered health workers who have not received any vaccination to keep away from their respective places of work until they are fully vaccinated.
Only those who have received their first dose have been allowed to continue to work but “be encouraged to receive the second dose as soon as it is due”
Earlier, the government prioritised vaccination of health workers (both private and public) against Covid-19 on account of being an at-risk population that required to be vaccinated.
However, whereas Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Director General of Health Services in his letter dated December 3, 2021 says 95% of the health workers received their first dose of the vaccine, he notes that some health workers are yet to complete the two doses.
To this, he wrote to District Chief Administrative Officers, City Mayors, Heads of National Referral Hospitals and all Directors at Regional Referral Hospitals to implement his instruction that “all health workers who have not received any vaccination against Covid-19 at all, must stay away from their respective places of work until they are vaccinated”
