Well, as the country is mourning with the people of Acholi sub region for losing their son, for us the rest of Ugandans we have lost a leader in Rt Hon Jacob Oulanya who many say he has been a wonderful man. May his soul R.I.P.
The law says that Parliament MUST elect a new Speaker so as to acquire him a state of nation befitting burial, the reason why NRM’s electoral commission called upon members of Parliament to express interest in the position of the Speaker of the 11th Parliament is is currently vacant and elections will be held this Friday 25th March 2022 as per the notice from the Clerk to Parliament.
Where as 13 NRM Members of Parliament expressed interest in this position, CEC will sit today Wednesday 23rd March 2022 to vet who the flag bearer should be. Even when majority of the candidates are from Northern Uganda.
Our sources from CEC and from NRM Chairman’s office indicated to me that the criteria will look more at the following, experience with in and outside Parliament, experience with the legal regime, political background, loyalty towards NRM the party and the party’s so called historicals …
From past experiences, you realize that NRM Parliamentary Caucus will not go against NRM CEC’s decision since it is the top most decision making organ and so by going against CEC, one risks going against H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa, the National Chairman of the revolutionary NRM.
CEC’s decision is most likely to settle in favour of Hon Oboth Markson Jacob given a fact that out of all the 13 candidates, he has a more heavier CV or fits more into the criteria than the rest including Rt Hon Anita Among, Hon Kafuuzi Jackson, Hon Atima Jackson, Hon Sarah Opendi, Hon Felix Okot Ogong, Hon Kintu Alex Brandon, Hon Obua Denis Hamson, Hon Acheng Ruth, Hon Asiimwe Florence, Hon Okot John Amos, Hon Ssekikubo Tholeodore.
And off course not all the 13 are all serious, others have been planted to balance the boat though as Tanbull256 we wish them all the best and congratulate all the 13 members of Parliament for showing interest to serve.
Will give other reasons before CEC pronounces its self on Hon Oboth Markson…
