KAMPALA: The D-day is 24th April, 2022. However, several pre-activities have been arranged to mark this historic event— Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 48th birthday. One of those activities that have so far been given a go ahead is a birthday run.
MediaScape News has had a brief chat with this run’s chief organizer, Mr. Paul Taremwa and he gives a quick insight:
MediaScape News: When will this MKAt48 birthday run take place?
Taremwa: It will take place this Saturday, April 23. It has been organized by the Patriots Club where I am the Chairman.
MediaScape News: What is so special about MK that makes you feel you must be part of his birthday celebrations?
Taremwa: (Lt.Gen) Muhoozi is a peacemaker, nation defender, Pan Africanist and a patriot.
MediaScape News: Take us through the run’s route chart?
Taremwa: We shall start from Kololo (Protea Hotel Gate), then go down to Acacia Avenue, then turn back to Protea. We shall proceed to Lugogo bypass, then to Kira Road Police lights. We shall then proceed to Mulago roundabout through Old Kitante Road (Golf course) and then back to Kololo Airstrip through the main gate (after Housing Finance Bank). The run will start at 7:00pm and end at 11:00am.
MediaScape News: And thereafter?
Taremwa: We will be done with the run by 11:00am and then head to Lugogo Cricket Oval for another pre-activity—the Kasiki or MK48 Birthday concert organized by Chairman Michael Nuwagira alias Toyota.
MediaScape News: Have you been cleared by authorities? Because your run is likely to affect traffic flow.
Taremwa: Yes, we have been cleared by all relevant authorities. EDITOR: MediaScape News understands IGP Okoth Ochola has directed the department of Traffic and road safety to “liaise with the organizers and plan together to secure the event.” Ochola directed that “Comprehensive security and traffic plan need to be put in place in advance especially on the backdrop of the threat of terrorism and considerable traffic challenges related to such activities.”
