Kampala- Uganda: Two relatives of the late Henry Katanga are warning potential witnesses, citing concerns about hitmen and external threats.
The alert comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) sanctioned charges against key accused persons in the murder case.
Through legal representatives, M/s Kanduho & Co. Advocates and M/s Arcadia Advocates, the two relatives- Brig Gen. Freddie Karara Mucwa and Barnabas Taremwa have expressed approval for the prosecutorial course, leading to the decision to sideline the ongoing inquest proceedings.
In a press release sent to Top Intelligence, the two men emphasize the need for swift legal action against the remaining uncharged suspects, particularly Molly Katanga, the principal suspect still at IHK Hospital-Muyenga. They argue for her prompt arraignment to Luzira Maximum Prison, highlighting the urgency mirrored in the hasty burial of Henry Katanga. Molly is Henry Katanga’s wife.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the suspect’s current hospital stay, they demand an enabling environment for outreach and assistance to law enforcement, anticipating challenges due to financial support provided to the accused and reported intimidation tactics by hired personnel.
In a bold declaration, the duo has vowed to expose those attempting extrajudicial actions against potential witnesses, promising to collaborate with the police and the DPP in identifying and thwarting such threats.
“We are aware that sackfuls of money have since been deployed to the aid of the principal murder suspect and her accomplices in much the same way highly billed Army officers and other hired goons are on the loose to intimidate and possibly kill whosoever has identified with the course of justice,” the reveal in a chilling presser.
Despite reported financial influence and intimidation tactics, they affirm their unwavering commitment to seeking justice for Henry Katanga’s murder.
“We remain as steadfast as we are unwavering in pursuing the cause and course to judiciously avenge the blood of late Henry Katanga,” they promise.
Acknowledging potential risks, they assure their legal representatives, Frank Kanduho and Paul Kuteesa, of steadfast support in the face of demobilization threats. Addressing a broader audience of supporters, the friends call for resilience and vigilance in pursuit of justice.
In a strategic move, the friends inform the court and relevant authorities that their lawyers will actively contribute to the ongoing legal proceedings, intending to bring vitality to the pursuit of justice in the Henry Katanga murder case.
