On June 4, 2021, President Yoweri Museveni applauded Eng. Irene Kaggwa Ssewankambo, for being an incorruptible civil servant.
The President, who was delivering his 6th term agenda in the State-of-the-Nation-Address at Kololo Independence Grounds described Eng. Irene Kaggwa is one of the incorruptible new breed of young passionate Ugandans who has taken UCC to another level.
Museveni noted that he has been getting good feedback that the acting Executive Director is doing a very good job at UCC.
He added that NRM deployed a team of young activists who have so far registered results and one of them is Irene Ssewankambo, whom he appointed in an acting capacity to head the Uganda Communications Commission.
“When I was appointing her, people complained that she was young and inexperienced, that I should maintain the corrupt ones because they are political assets. But if you are corrupt, you are not a political asset but a liability,” Museveni was quoted in the press.
